My friends and I are regulars at what is called "tam-tams".
For those who are not from Montreal, and are not familiar with the "Tam-Tams", here is a little history and background on the event.
Since apparently the 70's (according to my research), every sunday, in the summer time, Mount Royal hosts the "Tam Tam Jam", a popular activity whereby a number of Montrealers and visitors play hand drums such as djembes on the east slope of the mountain. This regular event attracts people of various backgrounds, and often dozens of tam-tam players perform their art at the same time, encouraging others to dance. In addition, others participate in a continuous mock medieval battle with foam-padded weapons, although seemingly a crazy activity, it is always fun to watch !
Although a little controversial due to the permissive attitude towards marijuana use ( we are in Canada after all) , the event is a simple bliss ( wow a fancy sounding word)
So here are some pictures from my "Tam-Tams afternoons"...
Hey I figured it had been a while since my last post, so I will make my return to the blog's sphere with this great song and this fabulous band. I do mind their too-dark-of-a-look, but they sound so good, the combination of their melodies and lyrics just works.
This is just a peek of their poetry.
"I can give it all on the first date I don't have to exist outside this place And Dear, know that I can change
But if stars shouldn't shine By the very first time Then dear it's fine, so fine by me Cause we can give it time So much time with me"
Here's to hoping I keep bloggin (for my sake, not yours, I am not as pretentious as to think people read this)
J'aime le style de mec, celui qui dit: "Je suis belle sans essayer". Alors voila, voici quelques photo de la collection Ete Berangere claire. Trois mots la qualifie: simplicite, comfort, et style !
I finally left Montreal, leaving my boy and the bunch of friends I have left there... to go see my brother in London for Easter Weekend. The weather was great, ( No rain ), disagreeing with all the pre-established cliches about the humid city that is London.
This city amazes me. It is now the second time I went . But Its so edgy , from the architecture, the streets, to the vintage clothes that people are wearing. London screams " Diversity". It's not a surprise to anyone that London is a cosmopolitan city. However the differences is not only with regards to the many ethnicities in the city. But also just between "posh" and "cockney" british, the weird food, the types of Art and Music , and finally the numerous districts from Soho, to Portobello road, and brick lane and Kings cross.
Another thing that amazes me, is that every person I meet from London seems to be from somewhere else originally.
So here are a few pictures I took from flikr of London , I will post my own later.
The temperature has risen in Montreal and we have been blessed with a great weather lately, above 10 degrees I might add, and we are in March so for those who dont know its pretty uncommon, It is in the period I like to call; " Guess what season Im wearing" Indeed, we are in this awkward period where nobody really knows how to dress..... because it still cold but the sun has come out and the snow is nowhere to be seen, sooo the question is scarf no scarf ? Tshirt or big sweater? boots or sneakers? You see the hyper optimists, the people in shorts, skirts or dresses, however you still find people that do not yet believe it ( such as myself) still rockin the winter coat!
And with that beautiful weather, comes a feel for vacation, road trips, bike rides, picnics and sangria...
It's almost summertime I can taste it ! and I cannot wait, I want to travel.. Im going to London in a little bit , Ill be sure to take a lot of pictures with my Olga cam to document it all..
Aids Week is coming up at my University. SO I thought it would be the perfect occasion, to share with you this series of poster.
These are from an art activist movement known in the 80's called Gran Fury, who expressed through these posters their outrage against the AIDS pandemic, and the lack of governmental action towards finding a cure. They are so powerful and actually made a difference.
Okay so I went to get a haircut over the weekend, and I am really not happy with it. First of all I don't even really like to go to the hairdresser, most of the time I think it is awkward. You are often trying to make conversation, and most of the time I have to say I am relieved when it's time for the blow dryer, you're finally done, and safe from talking. Also When they ask you if you like it at the end, I always wonder, do they expect you to be honest ? and answer something like " No, I don't like it, it is hideous, I want my 10 cm back ! " okay maybe I am being a little dramatic but anyway, to make me feel better I went to look at very bad haircuts and here is what I found. Enjoy,
This commercial was shown at The Superbowl, this year and is brilliant. I know its a bit late but I thought I would Share, for those who have not seen it yet. Google is brilliant !
So basically tonight was IGLOOFEST . For those who don't know, it is a music Fest that promotes electronic Music in Montreal: it's good music, lots of people, alcohol, and -20 degrees... yep I'll say it again -20 degrees. Sounds like hell ,umm not really. It's prettyy amazing. Tonight the DJ was M.A.N.D.Y. and I love M.AN.D.Y,
So it was "Good Times".
So of course you guessed it, the song of the moment is M.A.N.D.Y with BooKa Shade, a great mix,
Heyy so here it is, I finally got the nerves to write my first post.. So I am not really sure how this whole "blog business" works , but I like challenges... so here I come.
I am not sure exactly what I want my blog to be. And i have not yet mastered all the tools to make it great but I will get there. I just hope my blog is somewhat like me, smart, funny and somewhat unique. I like Art, Music, fashion, and people. I just hope this space will allow me to share my few and humble opinions.
Here is a useless fact:
57,983,026,785,314,980,859 cans of soda are drunk per year. ( Impressive,..and the US is probably responsible for only half of that...jk)
